Throughout the Bible, there are many teachings for Christians to engage in what could be called "Radical Nonviolence." This means loving enemies, turning the other cheek, praying for those who persecute us, blessing those who curse us, and repaying evil with good. Contrary to earthly wisdom, it was through these peaceful means that Christianity spread around the Middle East, North Africa and into Europe. However, from the 7th Century, Islam arrived to conquer those Christian lands through force, and after centuries of persecution, the Christians eventually fought back through the Crusades.
